This guy has some amazing stuff. If you had permission and a nice color printer this could make a classroom like real nice.

Make Google reader look nice with Fluid. Images load too slowly for me with this setup so I’m sticking with NetNewsWire, but if you’re a Google Reader fanatic this seems pretty slick.

Beautiful NetNewsWire Styles

It is important to us that the site feels dignified at first glance; by that, I mean non-commercial, not self-promotional, not full of hype and false promise. A mix of levity and sobriety, of hard news and features, analysis and pure story-telling.

Newspapers take note. Dignified. Not self-promotional.

So many great ideas:

They started with a 400 sq-ft barn. That’s 16 x 25: a touch smaller than I have been thinking, so it makes me think that maybe I’m going too big. I see a number of benefits here:

1.) Cheaper. Both to build and, in the long run, to heat.
2.) Quicker to build.
3.) Environmentally speaking: better.
4.) Cozier.
5.) Won’t “overpower” our current structure.

Thinking about a 16 x 25 space we could have a 12 x 12 bedroom and a 14 x 16 library. That leaves 4 ft beside the bedroom for a staircase that would provide access to an office loft above the bedroom and provide a closet for the bedroom. The library would be open with a high ceiling.

1.) Windows: lots of them, and large sills for sitting on.
2.) Combination of wood and white.
3.) Storage in clever spaces — built-in bookshelves in the stairs.
